Search our library

Orbit makes reading and research simpler and more engaging for primary school students. With a dynamic picture search environment, book cover carousels and more, Orbit encourages students to love using their library.

Senior students are able to search Orbit during their library sessions via our dedicated iPad search stations.

The Dalmain Primary School Library focuses on encouraging reading for pleasure and fostering a life-long love of reading.

Each Dalmain class visits the library on a weekly basis to borrow books and share their reading interests with their peers, all within a safe, inclusive and comfortable environment.

During library sessions, students will have the opportunity to listen to stories, share books with friends and select 1-3 books (depending on year level) to take home for the week.

At Dalmain, we create a culture of reading by:

  • ensuring students always feel welcome and supported in the library.
  • empowering students to choose reading material that reinforces reading for pleasure.
  • giving students confidence to utilise library services throughout their lifetime.

Our collection includes everything from picture books, to the latest in popular children’s fiction and graphic novels, as well as weird, wonderful and engaging non-fiction texts.

Every year, we celebrate books and reading with exciting Book Week activities and by participating in the Premier’s Reading Challenge.

The library is also before school and at recess Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for students to enjoy some quiet reading and exchange library books.
